Angel Investing Networks Injected $157.2M into Canadian Start-ups in 2016

WINNIPEG, May 29, 2017 – The National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) released the seventh annual Report on Canadian Angel Investing Activity. The data collected paints a vibrant and buoyant Canadian Angel Market. The report, which is based on a survey of 35 Angel groups across Canada, reveals that these groups made 418 investments, amounting to over $157.2 million, with an average deal size of over $1.7 million. NACO and Economic Development Winnipeg to Bring 100 Investors to Winnipeg for Western Regional Angel Summit

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Economic Development Winnipeg Inc. (EDW) to host the 2nd annual Western Regional Angel Summit on May 29, 2017. The partnership will build on the YES! Winnipeg initiative to grow and strengthen Winnipeg’s economy by assisting in the creation of new jobs and attracting capital investment.

TORONTO, April 12, 2017 – More than 100 Angel investors, industry partners and startup founders gathered in Toronto yesterday for the Canadian launch of the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) Common Docs.

NACO has developed standard document templates that are broadly applicable to Angel investors as a starting point for negotiating investment terms with startups. The latest report to be released by the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) is the first study of its kind in Canada. The 2015 Report on Early-Stage Support for Canadian Companies has set a baseline for ongoing study of the comparisons in the viewpoints of the various players within the technology and innovation sector. Investor ecosystem to convene in Vancouver for National Angel Summit

Over 400 angel investors, industry partners, supporters, and startup founders will meet in Vancouver this week for the 2016 National Angel Summit. The goal this year is to gather the investor ecosystem to meet and discuss how to continue to drive Canada’s Innovation Agenda. Hosted by the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO), the Summit is the flagship event for the angel investor community and one of NACO’s most notable contributions to entrepreneurship. MONTREAL, July 13th, 2016 – The National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) released the sixth annual Report on Canadian Angel Investing Activity. The data collected paints a vibrant and buoyant Canadian Angel Market. The report, which is based on a survey of 32 Angel groups across Canada, reveals that these groups made 283 investments, amounting to over $133 million, with an average deal size of over $1 million. Investing in Western Canada Innovation and Angel Networks

Government of Canada Investment to Support Growth of Angel Investor Community in Western Canada

Today, Andrew Saxton, Member of Parliament for North Vancouver, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced $1.5 million in Western Diversification Program funding to the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO), to implement a three year initiative aimed at growing the Angel investor community in Western Canada.

Through this investment, NACO will identify, recruit and educate Angel investors within Western Canada and connect these groups with other established Angel communities throughout Canada and the United States. Read more

Angel Investing Networks Injected $90.5M into Canadian Startups in 2014

The National Angel Capital Organization released its annual Angel activity report. The report, which is based on a survey of 30 Angel groups across Canada, reveals that these groups made 237 investments in 181 companies, amounting to $90.5 million, with an additional $110.4 million of funding leveraged into the investments.

Angel Networks Across Canada Disrupt the Investing Community on Global Business Angels Day

The award, presented by BDC Capital during the annual NACO Summit, has been given to an experienced angel investor who has made a significant contribution to the development of the Canadian Angel ecosystem between June 1, 2012 and May 30, 2014. Angel Investing Networks Injected $89M into Canadian Startups in 2013

The National Angel Capital Organization (“NACO”) releases data on Angel investing that shows $89 million was invested in 199 deals by 29 Canadian Angel groups last year alone. This data was captured in NACO’s 2013 Report on Angel Investing Activity in Canada, which was released today on their website. The annual study conducted by NACO measures the activity of the visible Angel investor community in Canada and identifies trends and best practices for investors and entrepreneurs. Since 2010, the report has captured 475 investments, representing $180 million injected in the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem by visible Canadian Angel investors. The 29 groups that participated in this year’s study represent over 2,100 individual investors across Canada, of which 40% are in Western Canada, 55% in Central Canada, and 5% in Eastern Canada. Read more
