The National Angel Capital Organization (NACO) accelerates a thriving, early-stage investing ecosystem in Canada by connecting individuals, groups, and other partners that support Angel-stage investing. NACO provides intelligence, tools and resources for its members; facilitates key connections across networks, borders and industries; and helps to inform policy affecting the Angel asset-class.
NACO works to connect our members and stakeholders through various means, but principally by hosting and attending industry events and workshops. NACO has been hosting events for Angel investors since 2001. Our National Angel Summit is the largest event of the year, approximately 200 to 300 individuals attend our National Angel Summit each year. NACO also engages with its members by attending and sponsoring their events.
- National Angel Summits Since 2001, our annual National Angel Summits have been the cornerstone event for Angel investors and other Angel community stakeholders. These events provide an excellent networking venue and regularly feature several internationally renowned guest speakers, each addressing the challenges and rewards for Angels as they transcend contemporary economic upheaval to realize future prosperity.
- Co-Investment Summits Our Co-Investment Summits are a method for us to help coordinate and organize the Angel community and provide them with a way to better share and promote co-investment in businesses that are performing well but require additional funding.
- Professional Development Workshops NACO in partnership with the Angel Resource Institute (ARI) has developed and delivers a series of workshops designed to help Angel investors and other stakeholders improve returns from their investments. These workshops are held at our National Angel Summit, at scheduled times throughout the year, or by request.
NACO offers a variety of Professional Development related tools for Angel investors. These tools, from seminars to online resources, are designed to assist Angel investors to improve their investing skills and drive successful outcomes.
NACO supports its members to deliver professional development workshops by helping to organize and fund these events. NACO provides resources and pays for costs related to these events. When NACO is not taking a leading role in these events, it may otherwise support member events by coordinating sponsor funding, and identifying expert panelists to participate.
Smart investing requires more than just timely information – it requires real Angel Intelligence. NACO works with its membership to collect and analyze primary industry data and produce research reports that provide stakeholders with information about the Canadian Angel community that may be used to inform the development of public policy and member best practices.
NACO holds various research initiatives for its members and stakeholders. From the annual Angel Investment Activity Report to various surveys conducted, these research initiatives are designed to inform NACO members and stakeholders about the Canadian Angel investing landscape and to assist NACO in serving its community better.
NACO works to represent the best interests of its members with industry and government partners. We leverage the knowledge and profile of our members and directors to make an effective contribution to the development of effective policy frameworks. NACO works with industry and all levels of government to bring forward programs that support the efforts of Angel investor groups in furthering Canada’s innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
